Hmmm, last week was fun! I went to Shymkent (city two hours south of Taraz) to see the Nauriz celebrations. Nauriz is the Kazak New Year and they generally celebrate it by watching horse games and drinking way too much. There were almost 50 volunteers in town (most from the new group whom I don’t know that well) so it made for an interesting time. Shymkent is bigger then Taraz with about 800,000 people living there. It was interesting to see all the new shops and people on the streets. Very different from Taraz, but all the same, I was happy to get back home to Taraz. This week, I have been busy working on a new database in the office. The idea is to create an international database that local business leaders can use on order to develop business in the city. It is good to be busy and I find that the busy I am, the better my brain works. I still haven’t found a new Russian teacher but hopefully soon as I am still looking. Other then that, all is well in Taraz. I gotta go now as I am watching Resident Evil 3.
